SMS Notifications for Participant Incentives

Modified on Wed, 13 May at 12:06 PM

Ayda supports SMS notifications to help participants claim their incentives faster and more conveniently. Previously, participants would only receive SMS notifications after adding their phone number to their account. Now, researchers can include phone numbers when setting up participants, ensuring SMS messages are sent immediately, even before the participant creates or accesses their account.

How It Works

When an incentive is released:

  • Participants will receive both an email and an SMS with a secure link to claim their incentive.
  • Any reminder messages will also be sent via both channels.
  • SMS notifications improve visibility and make it easier for participants to access their rewards on the go.

How to Enable SMS Notifications

To send SMS notifications, you must include the participant’s phone number when adding them to your project.

Adding Participants Manually

  • In Step 3 of the manual participant add flow:
  • Enter First Name
  • Enter Last Name
  • Enter Phone Number Select the area code (e.g. +44) from the dropdown menu.
Please note: currently, only UK numbers are supported, we’re working to expand support to other regions soon.

Bulk Upload via Excel

  • Add a new column titled Phone Number
  • Ensure all phone numbers include the international code, e.g., +44 7700 900123
  • Upload the updated Excel sheet to your project

Updating Existing Assignments

You can also add phone numbers to existing assignments:

  • Go to the project and edit the participant assignment
  • Add the phone number (with international code)
  • If the incentive has already been released, an SMS notification will be sent immediately once the phone number is saved

Tips for Best Results

  • Always include phone numbers during initial participant setup to avoid missing SMS notifications
  • Use the correct international dialling code to ensure message delivery
  • Encourage teams to use both email and SMS to improve participant engagement
  • You can disable this feature at the company or project level in your settings, if preferred.
